In Dakar, more than a thousand disadvantaged households benefited from a distribution of essential foodstuffs orchestrated by the World Islamic League. ToBeyond the food emergency, this initiative illustrates a sustainable humanitarian strategy, praised by the Senegalese State as a model of international cooperation in the service of social dignity.
Faced with the silent precariousness of the poorest homes in the capital, the World Islamic League (WIL) has deployed this weekend a large-scale aid scheme. Rice, oil and sugar were distributed to more than 1,000 households, providing a vital respite for hundreds of widows, orphans and the elderly.
The ballet of food trucks at the Islamic Institute in Dakar symbolized active solidarity, inscribed in a tour that also affected the suburbs, including the municipality of Mbao. The operation closed at the organisation's regional headquarters in the presence of its director.
State welcomes strategic support
Paul Joseph Ndiaye, Director General of Social Action and official representative of the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, expressed his gratitude:
« The Directorate-General for Social Action and the Ministry work for the same causes. If there is a partner like the World Islamic League, we can only rejoice, since it helps alleviate part of the target, especially widows, orphans and the elderly. »
He recalled the historical anchoring of the LIM in Senegal since 1962, stressing the continuity of a partnership that goes beyond urgency to be part of a logic of social development.
A comprehensive humanitarian strategy
For Dr. Mohamed Said Ba, responsible for education and training projects at the Regional Office, this action is only the visible part of a constant commitment. With two to three major social programmes each year, the LIM establishes itself as a pillar of humanitarian aid in Senegal.
Recently, the organization has been distinguished by the allocation of more than one billion CFA francs 760 million distributed directly to orphans across the country. Beyond the emergency, it invests in structural sectors such as agriculture, vocational training, health and hydraulics, strengthening its role as a strategic partner for social development.
By giving a smile to forgotten families, the World Islamic League confirms that humanitarianism, when articulated in a long-term vision, becomes an instrument of social diplomacy.
In Dakar, this active solidarity illustrates the convergence between humanitarian action and institutional cooperation, placing Senegal in a dynamic where international aid is leveraged by dignity and stability.
