Senegal strengthens its commitment to the Pan-African Parliament

Under the leadership of the Minister for African Integration, Foreign Affairs and External Senegalese, His Excellency Sheikh Niang, Senegal reaffirmed its commitment to continental cooperation at a meeting with a delegation from the Pan-African Parliament.

On Monday, September 28, 2026, His Excellency Sheikh Niang received a delegation from the West Africa Regional Group of the Pan-African Parliament in Dakar on a working visit.

The meeting was attended by members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Senegal and the Deputy Secretary General of the Pan-African Parliament.

This meeting allowed us to revisit the missions of the Pan-African institution and highlight its role in consolidating African integration. The discussions highlighted Senegal's contribution to promoting more inclusive and effective continental parliamentary governance.

Towards African legal harmonization

Discussions also focused on the status of the ratification process of the legal instruments adopted within the framework of the Pan-African Parliament.

Participants stressed the need for rapid finalization of these texts by all Member States in order to ensure their harmonised and timely implementation.

This step is considered essential to strengthen the institutional and legal coherence of the continent, while promoting sustainable political and economic integration.

In reaffirming its commitment, Senegal confirms its commitment to remain a key player in building a united, solidarity-based and legally integrated Africa, an ambition at the heart of its pan-African diplomacy.
